I can remember a time when it use to be fun to fly to your travel destination. I couldn't wait to get onto the plane and was amazed how you could travel from Maine to the Caribbean in just a few hours. Times have changed, so here are my air travel tips.
Today, I hear people say how much they hate flying and the hassle they go through to ensure their safety. I hear them say flying is a hassle and that they do not look forward to the travel part of the vacation or business destinations.
It's all about reducing your stress in order to make your air travel more enjoyable. Remember this one thing, the only thing you can control is you and your attitude. You can not control the weather and what airlines do.
Arrive Early To The Airport
Always plan to arrive at the airport early one to two hours to check in and go through security. This way you avoid the rush at the counters and check points and gives you time to relax before your board the plane.

Curbside Baggage Check Service
You should use the curbside baggage service and pay the $1 tip and avoid the crowds at the front desk. This way you can go straight to your gate.
Fight Delayed
If your flight has been delayed, check with you agent (be nice) and ask to get on the next available flight with the same or competitor airline. This rule is called the 240 when you are talking to the airline agent.
Fight Cancellations
If your flight is canceled (be nice) and make reservation on the next available flight. They will put you on a competitors flight if you request it.
Getting Bumped
To avoid getting bumped arrive at the loading gate at least 10 minutes early. If you get bumped (be nice) and ask for your free round-trip ticket and to be booked on the next available flight. You can asked to be 240ed (240 rule) which is booked on another airline. If the airline arrives a couple hours late to your original schedule arrival, you are entitled to a one-way fare valued up to $200 and be able to keep the original ticket for a refund or future use.
Lost Bags
If you have lost or damaged bags, you need to file a claim with the airline and give the estimated value. The maximum allowed is $1,250.
Carry Ons
Many airlines no longer offer meals, blankets, entertainment and pillows. If any of these are a must, pack them in your carry on bag. I strongly recommend bringing a snack.
I hope these air travel tips will be helpful and make your flights more enjoyable.
