Carnival Comquest

Carnival Really Is the Funship Cruise Line: My name is Darcy and I live in the state of Texas. My husband and I have taken two trips with Carnival Cruise Lines. Both of them we took on the Carnival ship Conquest for a seven day cruise.
The trips departed out of Galveston, TX and had the same itinerary. We departed on a Sunday and then spent Monday and Tuesday at sea. Wednesday the ship was in the port of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Thursday the ship docked at Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Friday the day was spent in the port of Cozumel, Mexico.
Then Saturday was spent at sea and we disembarked Sunday. We absolutely loved both trips and have determined that cruising is forever more our favorite kind of vacation. While we had heard some negative things about Carnival before we sailed the first time in 2007 I must say the trips were nothing short of delightful.
The Conquest is a large ship with much to see and do. The days spent at sea were filled with fun activities to choose from. Among some the activities were games on deck in the sun by the pool, scavenger hunts, a movie in one of the lounges, dancing lessons, trivia competitions and much, much more. The days at port were fun filled and packed with choices of excursions from the cruise line or you could choose to venture out on your own to explore. We took a brief tour of Jamaica the first time we were there but stayed on the ship the second time around. I must say it was a nice experience to virtually have such a huge ship to ourselves. But we did get the ship off both trips at Cozumel and Georgetown and there are wonderful things to do in both ports. The shopping and Passion Island in Cozumel are great and anyone who ever visits Grand Cayman - I highly recommend you visit Sting Ray City at least once.
Now I say all of this and did not even mention the food on the ships! It was, suffice it to say, amazing. You had your choice for all three meals to eat in the main dining room or the buffet dining room. Buffet dining was more flexible and absolutely delicious… but I would highly recommend doing at least one breakfast in the main dining room as it just cannot be beat. And we ate every night in the main dining room because the options were fantastic there. Each night in the main dining room there were different choices ranging from lobster, to quail, to steak. They also have a specialized menu for those who have particular dietary needs, but a vacation for me included one from dieting. Each night I only wanted the melting chocolate cake for dessert. Our server was so sweet that she insisted I try a different dessert on one night and when I refused she brought me the chocolate cake and a second dessert. And that right there leads to the culmination of my thoughts on Carnival Cruise Lines. There service (at least on our trips) was top notch! The wait staff in the dining rooms was friendly and accommodating. The housekeeping staff was so quick to fill any needs we had – including one medical need that we had early in our trip. The crew was superb, the ship fantastic, and the trip memorable. I highly recommend it. – P.S. I would encourage tasting something at the 24 hour pizzeria located on the ship
