Cruise Tips: First Time Cruise tips
"Choose The Right Cruise Ship"
Cruise tips will show you how to plan your cruise so you'll have an awesome expierence. First time cruise tips will also give you cruise packing tips.
The top of the list is choosing the wrong ship, the most common mistake people will make. Do you want a family vacation, I recommend Disney Cruises that have children programs while the parents get messages
Do you want a party atmosphere, I recommend Carnival Cruises or do you want to go up on deck with a book. Check with the cruise line to make sure it fits your vacation plans.
"Book Early Or Book Late For The Best Prices"
Both will save you money. However, if you book early, you will get a better choice in cabins and you should consider booking 3 to 6 months in advance. If you book late be aware that you will have to leave on short notice and take what available cabins that are left.
"Choose The Right Cabin"
If you don't care where you sleep, shower and change your clothes than the cheapest rooms ate below deck with no views.
The next upgrade would be ocean view.
If it's your honeymoon, where you may want every detail to be perfect, I would pick the suites with a privacy deck or luxury top deck suites.
Don't pick a cabin near the bow because the vibration and noise of the anchor can be disturbing.
"Be Prepared"
Stop your mail
Pay your bills
Kennel your pets
Paste your to do list on the refrigerator
"Pack Light"
Be prepared you luggage could get misplaced. Wear what you need for the first day including a light jacket and a little carryon bag with you toiletries.
Your baggage get checked in just like the airport and will delivered to your room later in the day.
"Don't Be The First On Board"
This is the most important of the the cruise tips I can give. Make sure you have your passports and other travel documents on you and not in you're checked in luggage. If you arrive too early you will have a long wait. The ship needs to get prepared before you board and it doesn't matter if your are the first or last in line. The ship won't leave until you're on.
"Do The Safety Drill"
The safety drill generally occurs in the first 24 hours and don't hide from it. They will come looking for you.
"Food"
There is something to eat 24 hours of the day. There is 24 hour room service, Dining Room times are posted. There are specialty restaurants that will require a reservation and dress code. Some may charge an extra fee.
Don't Gain Weight! You don't have to eat everything. The ships do have exercise gyms.
"Shore Excursions"
Make sure you book your excursion in advance with the cruise line. If you go it alone beware that if you miss the time to reboard the ship. It will be gone. You will have to contact the local agent and wait for the next ship to arrive. Yes! It will cost extra.
You can stay on board the ship during port day if that is your desire.
Remember the shopping is duty free.
Bags
Leave your bags outside your room the last night of your cruise for baggage pick up. Leave the ship how your boarded with your carryon bag.
Have fun!
