Family Fun In San Francisco

Take the kids to San Francisco for a fun family weekend. The Sheraton on Fisherman’s Wharf is a great, kid and pet friendly place to stay.
There are many family oriented activities right on Fisherman’s Wharf including an aquarium, a wax museum, and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum.
There are also lots of restaurants on the Wharf; you can eat outside at many of them. Many of the restaurants and cafes feature children’s menus. A boat tour is also a fun way to spend sometime.
The Red and White as well as the Blue and Gold fleet, offer great tours of the bay and a trip to Alcatraz the famed island and former home to the notorious prison are available.
While in San Francisco, take the kids to the Exploratorium in the Marina District near the entrance to the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a very “hands on” museum with many exhibits designed just for children, although adults will enjoy it, too.
During your visit, you may want to take the kids to the zoo, which features over 250 species, children’s zoo, miniature train and carousel. It is located just south of Golden Gate Park near the Pacific Coast Hwy.. Of course, no trip to San Francisco is complete without a ride on the famous cable cars. They are almost like riding an amusement ride, and are perfect for older children. Younger ones are welcome, of course, but boarding and disembarking can be difficult.
If you want to let the kids let off a little energy, a walk along the beach at Chrissy Field in the Presidio is perfect. While there, you can enjoy a picnic lunch.
In addition, there are many other hiking trails in the Presidio – which is a fascinating place. It was once a huge military post and is now a wonderful park. Enjoy the city! S.R. Wolk Sacramento, CA
