Maunawili Falls

Family Hiking By far one of my most memorable and favorite traveling experience has been when my family and I hiked up to Maunawili Falls. At the time my husband and I had three children. We have now been blessed with one more child. But that is a whole other topic. Maunawili was my most memorable because of the hiking distance, who we brought with us and of course the Falls itself. To hike Maunawili you must wear comfortable shoes. We didn't, we wore slippers and it was very uncomfortable because the ground is full of roots. While hiking we brought our three children, ages 7,5 and 1 at the time. The one year old had to be carried the whole time. So my husband and I switched off. To say the least we got a great work out from that. We hiked up a beautiful mountain and looked down to see that we were on the side of a cliff. It was very scary but exiting. As we got closer to the falls we started to level out into some sort of valley. We then asked a fellow hiker if they were willing to take a picture of us. They agreed and we now have one of the most beautiful photo's we have ever taken. It looks like a postcard in the back round. As we arrived at the falls we could hear the splashes of the water and see the people launching off of the falls. My husband then tried it and convinced me to try it after him. At the end of the falls is a pool that we could swim in. I didn't swim for long, because I don't like the feeling of something that deep under me. My kids had floaters on an floated around the pool. It was very cold. After the swim we headed back down the hiking path and made it to the end. We were very tired and hungry. Well that was our most memorable trip as a family
