MY Sandals Trip Report for spring 2009. If you have lived through a long Maine winter, you'll understand why we couldn't wait to get away to Jamaica in March. We booked our vacation on my travel site through travel impressions which took minutes to do.
We decided to fly out of Boston (a four hour drive) because it saved us $700.00 instead of flying out of Maine and from there we had a direct flight to Montego Bay. WE had no problems on the American Airlines flight. Going through immigrations was a breeze. The lines were long but moved quickly.
The Resort is about 1 1/2 hour ride from the airport by van. The ride was very entertaining. I thought we had entered the grand prix while the driver kept us in laughter to prevent us from screaming "No Problem!" There is a stop halfway for restroom, beverage or smoke break.
Upon our arrival at the resort we were greeted with cold towels for our faces, rum punch and smiles from the staff. We stayed in a Royal Cottage Room which was great by our standards. We tend to stay in our room only to sleep shower and change. We spend all our time outside.
I considered the food to be on par with several of the restuarunt chains we have in the US. There is a wide selection of food that would fit anyone's taste.
The entertainment staff (playmakers) went above and beyond to ensure we had a lot of fun. It does not take them long to remember your name. The staff keeps you as active as you want to be if you choose.
We really enjoyed the nightly shows at the Bayside restraunt. You can dress to impress or be casual. Each night the entertainment is different and entertains the youngest along with the oldest vacationers. One of eveyone's favorite was the culture night where we learned the Jamaica culture.
Sandals beeches and pools are awesome. The chairs fill up fast in the morning. My wife gets up early to fluff the nest.
One of the best part is that we have met so many great people from all over the world that would never had happen if we didn't make the trip. Of course e-mails were exchange and plans to meet next year were made.
This was a vacation for my mind and soul. After three days my mind had turned to mush. No books, newspaper, computer and television. This is a great chance for you to reconnect with your spouse. We all experience the ups and downs of life and to a getaway was an awesome experience
