View of Tucson from Santa Catalina hike) Escaping the winters in the Northwest? Looking for a warm location with a lot of sun? Are golf courses, pools, convenient shopping, tourist attractions, etc a must? Tucson, Arizona is the perfect location for all of those things and one of my favorite destinations. The Tucson area boasts of several world class golf courses. Whatever you level of golf is, there is a course for you. For more experienced golfers there is the Ventana Golf Course and Lodge. The El Conquistador course is excellent and less experienced golfers will definitely enjoy the round . Where ever you play, quail, prairie dogs, and road runners can be easily seen. Hiking in the Santa Catalina mountains is a joy. Starting out early in the morning and trekking to an oasis or perhaps a waterfall is a experience you don’t want to miss. In the spring, plants are in bloom and with the mountains as a backdrop, it is spectacular. If you are very observant, you might even see a Mountain Goat. Tombstone is only a couple hours away, but plan on the trip taking the entire day. Once you get to there, you will want to visit Boot Hill cemetery and have lunch at Big Nose Lil’s. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise of Tucson were the remarkable sunsets. Some of them actually were on par with ones I had seen in Hawaii. Whether you are going for the sports, the quiet, the warmth or the wildlife, Tucson is a perfect location in March.
